Career Strategy Lab

Career Strategy Lab is a 4-week interactive course designed to help you build a roadmap for your career. Through weekly Zoom sessions, personalized feedback, and actionable activities and assignments, you’ll craft a standout resume and unforgettable cover letter, develop a personal marketing plan, define your professional brand, and sharpen your interview skills. Whether you’re entering the workforce, making a career pivot, or leveling up, this course gives you the tools, strategy, and support to land the role you want—and thrive in it.

Format: 1-Hour Weekly Zoom Lecture* + Activities + Assignments + Direct Feedback
Outcomes: Build a powerful job application toolkit and a plan to get it in front of the RIGHT people.

*ZOOM lectures will be recorded if you need to miss a weekly class.

Week 1: Leveling Up Your Resume & Cover Letter

Lecture Focus:

    • What makes a resume rise to the top
    • How to tailor your resume for different roles
    • Writing a cover letter that people want to read

Class Activity:

    • Using AI to explore what makes us unique
    • Picking our work anthem (optional)

Assignment:

    • Start drafting your resume and cover letter

Outcome:

    • Understanding what hiring managers look for
    • Clarity on the format, structure, and tone of both documents 

Week 2: Building Your Personal Marketing Plan

Lecture Focus:

    • Creating a strategy for your job search
    • Identifying your ideal roles, companies, and networking opportunities
    • How to stand out against competitors

Assignment:

    • Submit your draft resume and cover letter to a class partner for peer review
    • Begin outlining your personal marketing plan 

Outcome:

    • A targeted strategy to help you connect with the right people and opportunities 

Week 3: Owning Your Personal Brand

Lecture Focus:

    • What is a personal brand, and why it matters in your job search
    • Aligning your online presence (especially LinkedIn) with your career goals
    • Writing an authentic and compelling “About Me” statement

Class Activity:

    • Building a personal brand

Assignment:

    • Submit the final version of your resume and cover letter to the instructor
    • Draft your “About Me” statement 

Outcome:

    • A clear, confident, and professional personal brand 

Week 4: Mastering the Interview

Lecture Focus:

    • Researching companies and interviewers effectively
    • How to prep for common and curveball questions
    • Asking thoughtful questions that leave a strong impression 

Assignment:

    • Submit your resume and cover letter with incorporated instructor feedback

Outcome:

    • Confidence in telling your story
    • Strong interview prep strategies and polished application materials
